Roman blinds can be made in most cotton or linen fabrics – Im happy to help you source this, they are fully lined or come with an additional thermal blackout interlining.
They can be fitted onto the inside or outside of a window recess. Blinds fitted on the outside of the recess are usually mounted up to 15cm above the window so that, when raised, they allow most of the available light to enter the room. Width wise around 8cm either side of the window works well but depends upon any obstructions.

Blinds are supplied fitted onto a geared headrail with a beaded chain which raises & lowers the blind – like this one:

They slot onto three brackets that are screwed into the wall or window frame – installation is very straightforward. Just to note, I don’t offer fitting myself, but I’m happy to give guidance if needed.
Rod pockets are made and sewn into the lining & the layers are gently hand stab-stitched together to ensure no stitching is visible on the face.
