Pencil pleats are the simplest and most versatile heading. Using a deep pencil pleat tape on full length curtains gives more impact or you can have a more informal look by setting the tape lower down to give a softly gathered cottage style.
Pencil pleat curtains can be hung on tracks or poles, but i’d advise that the fixture is already in position before measuring.
Poles should be 15-22cm wider (on either side) than the window so as not to block any daylight when opened. They are also generally positioned 6-12cm above the window.


Interlining your curtains

Adding an inner layer of soft interlining not only provides extra insulation, but it also enhances the appearance of your curtains by giving them a fuller and more luxurious look. (The photo above shows the process before the lining has been attached).
